John Grauer SUP

We are excited to offer Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) classes at Hagg Lake this summer with instructor John Grauer.

John is a retired military officer and the owner of Pacific Paddleboards and Fitness. Certified with the Professional Stand-up Paddleboard Association (PSUPA), John can provide you with the necessary skills to make you more proficient in the water.  As a lifeguard, scuba diver, and endurance runner, John believes that staying active is essential in having a healthy lifestyle.

John loves the water and exploring the various waterways in Oregon, and he especially loves introducing people to Paddleboard techniques and safety with an emphasis on fun.

SUP Basics Level 1

Two-hour class on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, various times
$65 per session includes all gear
Ages 18 years and older, 12 – 17 years allowed with parent or guardian who is also registered
Instructor to Student Ratio is 1:6

Learn to stand up and paddle with confidence! This class is designed for complete beginners and will give students a comprehensive introduction to SUP skills, including standing up on the board, turning, building confidence, and having fun.

Core skills gained:
Standing up with confidence
Turning, going sideways and backwards
Powerful, simple forward stroke requiring minimal effort
Paddle straight to save energy and go faster
Stability skills to stay standing in rough water and boat wakes
Falling and getting back on
Installing a fin & leash
How to read water
Sit, kneel, and paddle straight
Prevent shoulder injuries
Appropriate equipment and clothing
How to help other paddlers

SUP Basics Level 2

Two-hour classes on Sundays 10 AM - Noon
$65 per session includes all gear
Ages 18 years and older, 12 – 17 years allowed with parent or guardian who is also registered
Instructor to Student Ratio is 1:6

This class is designed for those who have mastered the ability to stand up on a board with confidence.  Become faster, more stable, and achieve your paddling goals while staying injury-free.

Core skills gained:
Refine your forward stroke
Paddle straighter with more power and less effort
Minimize potential for injuries
Prone, sit and kneel using powerful strokes
Paddle upwind, flip rescue and towing
Buoy/pivot turns, crossbow, draw strokes
Read the water
Paddle over boat wakes in wind or on rough water

SUPFUZION: Paddle Board for Fitness
Week-long Skills Camp July 17 – 20

Monday – Thursday, 6:30 – 8 PM
$150 includes all gear
Basic SUP skills required
Ages 18 years and older, 12 – 17 years allowed with parent or guardian who is also registered
Instructor to Student Ratio is 1:6

Few activities provide such an extensive range or training, from upper body to leg work and core strength building, while being low-intensity and fun at the same time.  SUPFUZION is a great all-round body workout.  It is an exercise in strength and endurance that requires almost every element of the body to cooperate.
