Q & A with Groundskeeper Luke Hill

Since coming on board, you have made numerous improvements to Metzger Park. For which projects are you the most proud?

I come from a golf course background, so I am the most proud of taking Metzger Park from a blackberry and ivy infested park to an open and enjoyable place to visit. I, with the help of all the other groundskeepers, have made Metzger Park a much more appealing destination for the public.

Washington County strives to be an employer of choice. What made you choose to work for Washington County?

I have always had an interest in a government job, and being that I live in Washington County, I felt it only fitting to want to work for a county where I reside. Being able to take pride in improving the county parks where I live brings me great joy.

What do you enjoy doing on your days off?

I enjoy spending time with my two kids and wife. I also really enjoy the outdoors, with archery hunting and camping topping the list.
